Col E O "Flash" Kellett, DSO, MP is one of the 28 MPs, Peers and staff of the Palace of Westminster who were killed in action during the Second World War (1939-45). Their names are recorded in a Book of Remembrance and the insignia of their units are included in the a Memorial Window in the Palace of Westminster. The page showing his name is shown below. The badge of the Notts. (Sherwwod Rangers) Yeomanry is shown in the photograph below at the bottom right hand side. He was awarded an immediate DSO for his command of the regiment during the battle of El Alamein. He was promoted to 2i/c of 8th Armoured Brigade and was killed by a shell splinter whilst shaving before the battle for the Roman Wall in Tunisia. He rests in plot XII.A.12 in Sfax War Cemetery.

Sgt. J A Butler, MM
Sgt. Joe Butler, MM served in the Sherwood Rangers throughout the campaign in North Africa and landed in the vanguard on D-Day. The citation for his Military Medal (MM) states that "from El Alamein to Tunis and from ‘D’ Day to the present day, Sgt. Butler has carried out every order with dash, determination and initiative, and with complete disregard for his own personal safety." He was killed on 23/11/44 in heavy fighting near Geilenkirchen where the Sherwood Rangers were supporting the US 84 Division, attacking the Siegfied Line. A plaque in his memory is found in the church of All Saints on Lord Yarborough's estate at Brocklesby Park from whence he hailed. He is buried in plot 55.F.15 in the Reichswald Forest War Cemetery.
Tpr. F K Bend
Tpr. Frederic Kenneth Bend was killed on 24/11/42 on the first day of the battle of El Alamein. The Commonwealth War Graves website lists him as being in the Royal Armoured Corps. He is remembered on the parish war memorial on a tablet in St Mary the Virgin church in Bottesford, Leicestershire, where it states that he was serving with the Sherwood Rangers. He is buried in plot VI.C.26 in El Alamein War Cemetery.
